Let the Music Play

You know how just as you pull up at your home that song comes on and you find yourself sitting there …..

Let the Music Play

Let the spirit flow all through your body in nostalgic inebriation

cruising back to thoes good ‘ol days
at the speed of sound
when they would get on down

feel the happiness, the sweet sensation

of a perfect time and place
notice the smile that kid’s face

“I wan-it fried!” he whined, talking ‘bout that bologna sandwich

who can disagree?

smelling scents vividly,
they say that’s love
buts its plain to see

Depiction of the days of yore
a timeless melody,
either or
I loss myself evermore

So let the music play

this is no sad occasion on the contrary

a meditative thought provoked, emotion evoke
stepping and sliding into joy from mope

take those dusties off the shelves
and get down with your bad selves!

We love “I love the 70’s and 80s
In the days of momma, daddy, and baby
When you would hear a “right on!” from a live studio au-di-ence

reminiscing is time well spent
but it wasn’t always good times

Inevitably shit gets started
a marriage discarded
in statistical heap

a son disheartened
a daughter weeps
for love she seeks

from days to weeks
now decades long

before daddy was gone
when momma didn’t moan
I got to hear this song

so let the music play

from back in the day
cause reality is crass

often we dwell in the past

drifting on a memory,we hold dear
for a ray of sunshine, an ease of fear
no matter how far or near

love will find a way
so let the music play

What wouldn’t we give for a chance to relive

…..that one song
